With great sadness and loss I have to   inform our customers that Marion died on Thursday March 12th 2009 after a heart attack. She had been in ill health for the last seven months.I will miss her terribly but will remember the many good times. Her funeral took place  on Thursday 19th March in Wigtown. There was a very good attendance.

I am trying to continue to run the business . But it is difficult many memories. I am trying to find some one to join me.

I would like to thank the many bookdealers and customers  from here and abroad  who wrote or sent emails.

Robin husband and partner.

I have now reorganised my life and will be marrying  Paula Taylor in the new year.I hope she gives me as much happiness as my late wife Marion did.

History

Ming Books has given Twenty six years of service to book collectors, schools and readers.

As part of our 25 year celebration we sponsored a talk by John Simenon about his Father Georges Simenon best known for the Maigret detective novels. The talk took place on Saturday 6th October 3 pm 2007 in the County Buildings Wigtown. This talk was a great success. Simenon titles both hard and paper are available from our shop in Duncan Park Wigtown. We are hoping to ask John Simenon back to Wigtown.

.

Wigtown has been declared as one of 50 unique places in the world. This list includes Paris and Venice. Come and see what it is all about and visit our shop  in the town.

Incidently our business is named after a cat Miss Ming who died of old age before we moved to Scotland. We have two pictures of her in the book room. She loved people to buy books and would curl up with them on the floor while they studied a book. Her favourite author was Bill Pronzini.
